Absynth and 2026

Ok so here it is. The new year. Things are already pretty stress-heavy on the moving-out-of-town and securing a student loan side of life. I have no idea how to even fill out a contract, nor do I have a signature, but I guess you just have to learn these things coming into adulthood. The real question, though, is why would an eighteen-year-old be expected to retain information such as combined parental salaries and what categories they are split between? What even is this system anymore? Not to say this bureaucratic world we live in hasn't always been like this, but goddamn. I just want to make music and find music buddies down in the big city! Is that so hard to do without a wall of identification proof and financial details, dear Government?

Oh well. It's messy and confusing, but this is it.

Last night I got a cracked version of Absynth 5, which in my wildest dreams would've been as easy as it was to get without a shitload of malware. Thank you, rutracker.org! I made a pretty nifty house/ambient track with it, which you can find here.

Also, if you are reading this and find yourself connecting to my music—whether it is my electronic stuff or my usual instrumental/rock/whatever-you-wanna-call-it sort of stuff—I want to give a thanks to you for supporting me. Music is such a shit gig in terms of how the industry works in this day and age, and to (maybe?) have a following this compact is actually quite encouraging. I've always wanted to just put my music out there and never get huge. I don't know if I ever will make it big, but if I do one day I think I'll find myself wishing it was back to how it is now. Fame is torture. Anywho, if you're one of the like 5 people that listen to my music and somehow made your way here, thanks for listening. I love you.

Have a good day!

Interview over and done with

So, last night in Auckland tonight. I had my interview for the audio engineering course today.

The interview on the campus today went great, and I think I've got my foot in the door! As surprising as it was, it was a lot easier than I was expecting. The person I talked to was really nice and she guided me through everything super well. In addition to having the interview, I also got a full tour of the very small campus grounds. The studios are way cool. They even let you go in and use them for personal projects after hours until a certain time in the evening (so you will catch me in those booths most of the time outside of school and work). My interviewer seemed like she was pretty enthusiastic about me getting the green flag to get accepted in too, so woohoo!

After that, I went to the waterfront in the city and made a short little thing that probably won't see the light of day past its current version, which you can download with the link below.

I'm going back up home tomorrow morning.

Things are changing very soon. Bring it on.

Auckland

Yesterday, I traveled down to Auckland because today I have an enrollment interview for the audio engineering course I've applied to do. I'm sort of in two states of mind about it though, as a lot of reviews for the place seem to suggest it's a massive waste of money for things that you can learn on your own.

Gotta go, actually. I will update this blog on how it goes later

Getting swapped

It's 5pm and I just woke up from a well-deserved 3 hour sleep, which occurred after staying up all night in town shooting shit. My brain feels like it's on a baseline operation. It would have probably been better had I just stayed awake until it's night time again, but my body couldn't fight the weariness. So maybe it's a good thing?

As the title of this post suggests, everything feels very different. I had a recreational trip on peyote last night (and threw ALL of it up 40 minutes after ingestion), but this time felt different from the last time I had it. I had a pretty magnificent trip just about a year ago now, it was a whole lot more intense though as I took a bunch more than I did last night. I think the difference in last night's trip was probably the sheer joy of having spent all of it with my friend talking. I was definitely in the right headspace and I think that the peyote amplified that.

We spent most of the night just talking and reminiscing about when we first became friends and all the different eras we've been through in between then and now. It kinda put the fact that I'm only in this town for a little while longer into perspective for me. It feels strange now.

Peyote side note: On top of throwing it all up onto the ground, it also tastes absolutely disgraceful. Imagine alcoholic spew with a generous amount of aerosol residue. There you go.

Project file of unreleased tracks

Here is a screencap of the project file for some remixes I made with a friend's music. You can check his music out on his Bandcamp here.

These tracks will be coming out on Sunday. Woohoo!
